Pinterest.com is a the newest online forum for self-expression that was recently named by the Wall Street Journal as "the hottest start up...in Silicon Valley.” Known for its virtual pinboards and curation capabilities, Pinterest has already attracted a wide audience of influential users ranging from powerful media publications to NY fashion editors to major retail brands such as Martha Stewart, Inc., Nina Garcia of Marie Clare, and Club Monaco. Everyone -- bloggers, chefs, celebrities, designers, creative agencies, retailers, and startups -- are starting to realize the potential of promoting their brands, building communities, and ultimately driving sales through this latest social media craze.
As an early adopter, I have been using the site for over a year and have built a following of nearly 1 million users. I have been noted on the Pinterest Blog as a “Pinner to Follow” and named a Pinterest Tastemaker. Recently, I was named one of 10 Pinners to Follow by The Net Web, one of the 21 Most Important People to Follow by Mashable, and one of the 10 Most Important People on Pinterest by The Daily Dot. I am also a former small business owner who successfully landed my e-commerce site in publications such as DailyCandy, Lucky and Real Simple Magazine. Accomplishing all of this from the comforts of my home office, I know the ins and outs of utilizing social media sites like Pinterest to get you and your brand noticed.
I will discuss how you can use Pinterest to better your business and strengthen your brand. Specific topics will include: how to utilize the power of your pinboard to create a strong brand “story” and promote your brand lifestyle, how to use pin-tracking to perform market research and potentially reach new audiences; and how to interact with and manage your community to build brand loyalty.
In the course of one evening, you will learn the dos and don’ts of pinning from a long-time pinner (me!), uncover new avenues to build your social media presence and better your business, and have the opportunity to try your hand at improving your business’ Pinterest identity with a live “pinning” work and brainstorming session.
All you will need to participate in this one-time class is: a laptop, a Pinterest account (if your don’t have one, I will be happy to send you an invite prior to the class), a hunger for self-expression, and lots of great ideas!
