Did you ever notice how, if you give a teenage kid a guitar, they’ll rock their world? It seems to be a profound truth; people succeed more often at what excites their passion. Put simply, “We do better what we want to do than what we have to do.” Everybody has “stuff” in their lives that they ”really must do”, like those unfulfilled new year’s resolutions, messy garages, and semi-successful diets. People argue and agonize about what we have to do to improve education. Great minds spend their entire lives creating innovative teaching techniques and still they struggle with it. It seems they’ve missed one simple premise. Create the desire to learn first.
When students love the process they motivate themselves. That’s our first sacred rule…the first half of the concept. We put a small group of people together, excite their interest, and challenge them to learn as we play just like the young guitar player. The second half of the BC Class Act Workshop concept is all about tools and techniques. You can’t be the “monster” in the garage without the ability to actually do the work. We get right to the heavy lifting and cover a wide range of approaches. You should be familiar with the way it’s done in the real world; to audition effectively; to understand what your producer expects from you and how to give them what they want; to deal with agents and promote your career; to learn compete in the marketplace.
In eight weeks we enthusiastically cover a lot of ground, but… NO ONE CAN MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL IN 8 WEEKS OF CLASSES ALONE! That’s why we always come back to the first principle. When you’re done, you’re empowered with the sheer joy of learning as well as the tools, techniques, knowledge to empower yourself…to rock your world.
30+ Years of Voice Acting experience with TV, characters, film, radio, and video games.
