You've probably seen Ultimate Frisbee and wonder how those players are able to throw the Frisbee with such power and accuracy. It may seem like it's a natural talent but it is not. Throwing a Frisbee accurately merely requires a small amount of hand eye coordination, which you already have, and a little bit of patience.
Learning how to throw a Frisbee is not as intuitive as learning to throw a baseball, which is why learning how to throw on your own can prove to be a very frustrating experience. What I'm offering is a step-by-step guide that will teach you the physics of Frisbees, and the physical movements that will produce accurate throws. You will not be able to produce Sportscenter highlights, but you will be able to enjoy throwing a disc in the park.
With every skill we will start with the very basics. The class will cover a few concepts:
I have played competitive Ultimate Frisbee for over 10 years and competed in tournaments all over the United States as well as around the world. I coached the Xavier High School Ultimate Frisbee Club and was able to improve the team ranking from 13th to 6th in one season. I was also a member of the Philipines National Team for Ultimate Frisbee. Currently I’m the captain of a competitive co-ed team in New York City with over 40 members.
Beyond my Ultimate Frisbee qualifications I have also been an educator for the past 7 years. I know the difficulties students have when trying to master a new skill and can address many of those issues before they come up. I especially enjoy working with beginners because beginners have the fewest misconceptions and also the fewest bad habits. It gives me a chance to build good technique from scratch.
