Wired Magazine called Settlers of Catan the "Monopoly Killer" which is pretty much true. Settlers of Catan has sold over 15M copies worldwide.
According to Wikipedia, "the game has rapidly become popular in part because its mechanics are relatively simple, while its dynamics are quite complex. The game is well suited for family play, since at no point in the game is any player eliminated, and players who are behind can strive towards goals that are within their reach."
Come learn the basics behind the game and learn from two 'master' Catan players who have dominated their friends in endless home games (and often, for large profit and fame). You'll learn how to play Settlers of Catan, intricate strategies, and how to beat your friends every time.

Hi, I'm Christine! I'm into games, technology, and culture. I've been playing games for, oh, nearly three decades now. Catan is my latest passion, which I've been playing fervently for two years, and teaching for just as long. I held the first annual Brooklyn Catanourment in April - the next will be in June, so learn up and stay tuned!

From learning how to beat my parents at Monopoly at a young age to recently playing in the World Series of Poker, I've been obsessed with games my entire life. I've applied complex game theory and decision making processes from my experience playing poker to Catan which I'll share with the class.
