Freedom From Comedy (Improv for Improv's Sake)

By

This course gives improvisers a chance to exercise their skills in a format outside the structural confines of long-form or short-form comic improv. Based in the work of Viola Spolin, Paul Sills, and Michael Gelman, this workshop is an exercise in improvisational theater, offering tools for the improviser/actor to get on stage with a partner and allow themselves to get out of their own way as they discover a short play up on their feet, with the feeling of doing absolutely no work whatsoever.  Writers and devised theatermakers encouraged.

This workshop may culminate in an intimate performance, should the students want it.

This workshop meets once a week for 6 weeks, each session is 2 hours.

The next workshop begins October 29th, and has its final class December 3rd.

Sessions are Mondays, 6:30-9:30pm. $250 – only 12 slots available.
