Conscious Computing

Do you ever feel that your use of computers, smart phones, the Web, or social media is not as conscious and healthy as it could be?
Do you ever feel distracted, spacey, stressed, irritable, numb, or otherwise “out-of-balance” while using or after using your computer/smart phone?
Is your use of these technologies ever driven by habit and compulsion, rather than real need? 

If so, you’re not alone! These are common feelings and the way in which we engage with these technologies can have real psychological and physiological effects.

This workshop is designed to help you become more aware of your relationship with these technologies and to increase your understanding of why some of these effects occur.  The workshop format will be a combination of individual exercises and group discussions. We will discuss very practical tips that will help you manage your attention, stay relaxed, stay present, and engage the "flow" state. By having this increased awareness and by using the practices you should be able to increase your productivity, creativity, and overall well-being.

The workshop is FREE and open to anyone who has an interest in this topic. It will be especially useful to people who work with computers for long hours each day.

Please pre-register if you are planning to come.

IMPORTANT: Bring the laptop or smart phone that you use most often as we’ll be using it in the workshop. Also, bring something with a hard surface that you can write on (e.g. clipboard, notepad, book, etc.)
