About the class:

Picnics are the perfect way to get together with friends outside the confines of your stuffy apartment or overly-air-conditioned restaurant. From Governor’s Island to Coney Island, Prospect Park to Long Beach, we are lucky enough to live near some prime picnic spots.

In this class, we will prepare:

  • Smoky Vietnamese Bahn Mi
  • Ginger-Soy Kale Slaw
  • Mango Limeade
  • Flourless Sesame Peanut Cookies

You will learn:

  • The best (hidden) picnic spots in NYC
  • Make-your-own ice packs
  • The best way to carry it all (no picnic basket required!)

About Clare:

I’ve loved cooking (and eating) since I could reach the kitchen counter. In high school, my friend’s called me ‘Martha’ - short for, well, you know who.

After trying my hand at both fashion and finance, I nixed both and headed to culinary school here in NYC. After graduating from The Institute of Culinary Education, I spent time in the test kitchen at Every Day with Rachael Ray magazine and alongside former Top Chef contestant Candice Kumai. These days, I work as a personal chef with Carried Away Chefs.

When I’m not hustlin’ in other people’s kitchens, I’m assisting the fine folks at The Brooklyn Kitchen or writing my column for the site We Heart Astoria.
