AN EVENING WITH A CHOCOLATIER AND A SOMMELIER
Join us for an evening of chocolate demonstrations, tastings, and wine pairings. Learn the art of complementing and contrasting flavors for a memorable combination with a chocolatier and sommelier.
We will start in the kitchen at CityGrit with a demonstration on chocolate marbling and enrobing bon bons. After the demonstration, we will move upstairs to the beautiful City Grit dining room for a curated tasting and pairing of handcrafted chocolates and wines. We'll discuss the art of pairing wines to compliment and contrast flavors, textures, and temperatures.
Chef and Chocolatier Mehdi Chellaoui, started working with chocolate in the bustling pastry kitchen of Le Cirque 2000 at the age of 16 where he apprenticed in the chocolate room under the guidance of master chocolatier Jacques Torres. Since then, he graduated from the Culinary Institute of America, and has worked at many prestigious restaurants including: Jean Georges, Aureole, La Cote Basque, and Payard Patisserie.
Mehdi has been featured on the runway at New York City's Chocolate Fashion Show, Martha Stewart Living, Gourmet, Vogue magazines, and The Four Hour Chef.
