The landscape of venture capital is changing more quickly than ever before.

Whether you're launching your first startup & about to begin the fundraising process or generally interested in venture capital, this class will offer an encompassing overview of the industry & how it has continued to evolve over time to support new technology sectors and companies.

In this class, Michael will give a broad overview of the funding landscape in Boston and beyond, including:

  • Ingredients for a vibrant startup ecosystem
  • Trends in particular technology industries on the east coast 
  • Clusters of innovation & why geography matters
  • "The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly" of the VC industry 

Q&A following the talk will provide an opportunity for attendees to ask questions & explore ideas relevant to their own startups or particular topics in venture capital.

Note: Pizza & drinks will be served after!

All proceeds for this class will go towards supporting HackHarvard, a winter incubator program for helping students launch their first startups.

Prerequisites
Students are encouraged to bring their best ideas for new investment opportunities to class!

Michael Greeley

General Partner at Flybridge Capital Partners

Michael is a General Partner at Flybridge Capital Partners whose principle investment focus area is the application of "Big Data" platforms across a number of industry verticals.  Additionally, Michael is excited about the convergence of healthcare and information technologies, as well as robotics and human-machine interface technologies. 

Michael currently represents the firm on the boards of Blue Tarp Financial, MicroCHIPsPolyRemedyPredictive BiosciencesSpringLeaf TherapeuticsT2 BiosystemsTARIS Biomedicaland VidSys and led the firm’s investment in lighterliving, Magen BioSciences and Protein Forest.
 
Michael founded IDG Ventures Atlantic in 2001 before it transitioned to Flybridge Capital Partners in 2008.  Michael served on the board of International Data Group, the flagship Limited Partner for the IDG Ventures global network of funds. 
 
In previous positions, Michael has served on the Boards of a number of public and private companies including FleetCor Technologies (NYSE: FLT), Global TeleSystems Group (NASDAQ: GTSG), El Sitio International (NASDAQ: LCTO), MotherNature.com (NASDAQ: MTHR), Crescent Communications (acquired by Clear Channel), and American Capital Access.
