Customer Development for Entrepreneurs: What to do When You're Out of the Building

, New Product and Business Development

So you know you need to "get out of the building" and talk to your customers, but what are you actually supposed to do when you're out there? This class is a tactical guide to practicing customer development. Specific topics I'll cover include:

  • How to Get Startup Ideas Through Customer Development
  • How to Find Customers to Interview
  • What to Ask Your Customers so You can Actually Learn
  • How to Test Your Startup Idea Before Building a Product
  • How to Gain Customer Insights to Optimize Ideas and Existing Products
  • Common Mistakes to Avoid
  • How to Ask for and Get Interviews

Customer Development has been an incredibly valuable took for me to test ideas and come up with new ones. I wrote a book on customer development and practice it regularly at Casual Corp, a venture studio in NYC.

Prerequisites
Minimal understanding of Lean Startup and customer developmet principles is preferred, but not required.
