Vision
Skillshare is a simple solution to the problem our education system faces today: people aren't learning in a way that inspires them. We believe passion should dictate curriculum, not institutions. Currently, there is only one acceptable way to get an education and “succeed” in society.
We exist to destroy and disrupt this dusty, broken system that only allows money to buy your place in the world. Education should be meaningful, collaborative, and accessible to all.
We’re world builders. Skillshare is for the doers, not the academics or theorists. We empower people to do or become anything they desire. We deliver passion through our work, employees, and community. In other words, we’re here to increase the global passionate index.

Culture
We’re big fans of Tony Hsieh of Zappos, and we take our company culture very seriously. Our DNA consists of a lean product culture and innovative entrepreneurial culture. Everyone here is a creative problem solver (meet them!) and we work together to creatively brainstorm new ideas, implement them, and improve them as fast as possible. We’re obsessed with making the world a better place, tea from Harney & Sons, and Settlers of Catan.
- Skillshare University: We’re dedicated to professional development and have an in-house university where everyone shares skills and knowledge with each other.
- Mentorship Program: Everyone is assigned a mentor they admire in their industry.
- Skillshare Scholarships: Attend as many classes as you’d like on our platform!
- Retreats: We pack our bags and head to the Catskills three (3) times per year.
- Team Field Trips: We take our team on creative outings. Our last field trip was to the MoMA.
- Volunteer Days: Every employee gets two (2) paid volunteer days to give back to the community.
- Fun Fund: Every month, we encourage our teams to do fun things (bar night, paintball, etc) with each other.
- Appreciation Fund: Gift someone on the team a gift for doing an awesome job.
- Healthy Living Credit: Go to the gym/yoga a lot? We’ll pay for half of your fees.
- Office Chef: Every Friday, we have a team lunch together. Our in-house chef cooks up the most delicious meals. Om nom nom.
