What You’ll Learn

Are you ready to learn how to use a sewing machine to make your own clothes?

Using an established curriculum, you will learn basic sewing skills and focus on clothing to wear!

Classes are limited to 4 students and meet two hours each week.

Benefits of this course:

  • You will be sewing on a machine during the first class!
  • Great projects are organized by skill level, providing a new creative outlet.
  • Learn the feeling of accomplishment that comes from completing a long-term project. Each project takes 3 to 4 weeks to finish.
  • Small group classes, limited to 4 students, allow you to feel accepted and encouraged by a peer group who shares a similar interest.
Please bring 3/4 yard of fabric for the tote bag, along with 3 yds of cording for the handles. The pattern book is Adults Can Sew (R) pattern packet, with patterns and instruction for up to 10 projects, including shirts, shorts, and pajama pants. This is available from the instructor for $30.

I'll supply a sewing machine, neutral thread, and sewing tools for each student in my home sewing studio as well as a limited selection of fabrics and notions for a small fee.

I hope to create a positive learning environment where students can work at their own pace.

About Your Teacher

I've been sewing quilts, clothing, and home dec projects since 1996. I began working at a local quilt shop in 2004, and teaching quilt classes in 2006. I belong to Crossroads Quilt Guild in Beverly, MA, and I also sew with a few friends on a monthly basis. Social sewing inspires me! I love trying new techniques and challenging myself with projects.

After working at a local quilt shop for over 5 years, I decided it was time to try teaching on my own. You can see what I've been up to here: http://daniellesnew2you.blogspot.com/

It's such a great hobby that I want to share it with you! I hope you can join me.
