What This Class Is About:

You've heard it all before: "Content is King! Blah Blah Blah..." Well, too bad it's true.

Have you started a blog but don't know what to do with it? Want to get started in that personal branding thing or get the word out about your business? Great -- let's make some content.

But... Web content is not print content, just like online video ain't TV.

This course takes a look at what lies behind much of the viral success that seems to elude most of us yet yet ends up giving a few lucky folks book deals and appearances on the Today show.

Who Is This Class For?

  • Artists, writers, creators who want to take their work online
  • Small businesses and entrepreneurs who want to call attention to their products/services without a hard sell
  • Anyone who wants to promote their personal brand or platform online and via social media

What We Will Talk About:

  • How and why to blog with authenticity
  • What you should publish and how (blogs, Tumblr, Pinterest, Facebook, etc.)
  • Why social media is your key to finding people who actually want what you have to offer
  • Best practices of publishing blogs, video, and articles online
  • Tips on writing for the web
  • Why video online is its own special beast
  • What makes things go viral

Through real examples and my real-world experience, we will discuss how to evaluate ideas,  determine whether they're worth pursuing, and find ways to ensure a bare minimum of interest in what you want to write about. In the end, you'll discover ways to build new relationships online and create a buzz.

Students should come prepared with example ideas that have either failed miserably or be ready to brainstorm new ones. I want you to walk out of here thinking about content on the Web in new and more valuable ways.

And I want you to get rich (based on your own definition of what rich means)!
