Walk Before you Run: Spreadsheets 101 (Excel and Google)

Everyone has to use spreadsheets. But, if you're relatively new to the them, odds are you're missing out on all of the rich things they're capable of. Invest 120 minutes now, save hours down the road!

Who is this class for? This class is designed for people who have used spreadsheets before -- and know how to enter data -- but don't necessarily know how to use formulas like IF and SUM. If you're looking for an advanced spreadsheet class, check out this Spreadsheets 201 class.

What will I learn?

The basic syntax of formulas: how to enter them, what the heck they mean, and how to debug problematic formulas.
The most useful formulas, including mathematical operations, IF tests, and INDEX - MATCH.
Simple techniques for giving your spreadsheet the polish that says "I'm a straight shooter with upper management written all over me."

What should I bring? The class is structured as an interactive tutorial, so please bring a laptop, your sense of humor, and any questions you have. I will email you a spreadsheet in advance of the class. Although we'll be using Excel in the class, the vast majority of the material applies to Google Spreadsheets and other popular programs.
