Is your camera stuck on automatic? Ever seen a city-scape or even a lightning bolt captured on camera? Ever wondered why the pictures you take at night are usually blurry? Taking pictures at night, with no flash, is the easiest way to learn how a camera really works. It gives you the underlying knowledge to help you take great pictures and have more fun with your camera, under any circumstances- day or night.
We will start the class taking photos of the sunset. As we start losing natural light gradually, students will learn first hand how to compensate for this, minute by minute either by decreasing the shutter speed or opening up the aperture. As a result you will see the effects these variables have on your photos.
When the sun goes down we will walk around focusing on long expsure shots (and seeing if anyone can get a clear picture without a tripod). There are some tricks to be learned.
Students will walk away with a rudimentry understanding of shutter speed and aperture imputes, along with the confidence to use their camera on manual day or night. Not to mention some great photos.
Important. You must bring your own slr or dSLR (doesn't matter which but a dslr is easier to learn on and you will get more out of the class). Tripods recommended but not required.
