In this four week class, we will apply a user-centered design process to design navigation and a home page for a moderately complex website. The class will provide you with the foundation you’ll need to understand the user experience design process. We will focus on Information Architecture, the discipline concerned with organizing information on websites.
After an introduction to the field, we’ll employ a real world scenario to define the target audience, learn from the competition, and incorporate user feedback into our designs. Along the way, you will be introduced to a number of UX methods & tools, including card sorting, design patterns, site mapping, wireframing & prototyping.
This class is approppriate for:
User experience students Those wishing to transition into a UX role from another discipline (dev, marketing, visual design, tech writing, etc.) UXers building their portfolio Practitioners and managers of related disciplines who need to understand UX design processes
