Students will learn about the publishing process and how to integrate all marketing efforts into a cross-engagement plan. This class will offer insight into creating a publishing process using internal and external resources in order to create relevant and measurable content for the web and social channels. You will leave this class with a full understanding of best practices as well as a customized starter plan ready to implement into your organization's marketing efforts.

By the end of this class you will have learned:

  • An understanding of content marketing
  • Be able to evaluate whether an internal or external process is ideal for their organization
  • Understand the publishing process and how it translates into various channels such as web, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and more.
  • Understanding social advertising and organic growth
  • Understanding the Integrated Content Strategy through content creation, curation and repurposing 
  • Be able to identify measurable goals in online efforts
  • Be able to create an editorial calendar and an Standard Operating Procedure manual
  • Be able to develop brand guidelines, brand voice and style
  • Learn about the various formats and content options
  • Be able to demonstrate results through the goals set for each channel and in cross-promotion

This course will be offered weekly with homework/team work to be done on the internet and in presentation form.

  • The basic of the editorial process
  • How to best identify which online channels an organization should focus on
  • And how to measure those efforts
  • How to build a plan for internal staffing and implementation.

Kim Kleeman is President of Creative Marketing Partners, a Chicago based marketing solutions group. As President, she offers companies insight and guidance to develop and implement effective strategies for social engagement and brand establishment in the digital arena. Drawing on more than a decade of entrepreneurial and content creation experience, she offers a comprehensive understanding of social media properties, capabilities, and innovative applications. Before forming Creative Marketing Partners, she began her career originally as a high school English teacher and educational publisher. In 2003, she formed Shakespeare Squared, a content development company for educational resources. During her tenure as president, Shakespeare Squared was recipient of the Alfred P. Sloan award for business excellence in Workplace flexibility in 2008, 2009, and 2010. In 2008, she was named one of the 40 under 40 by Crain’s Business Chicago and received the Influential Women in Business award in 2009. Her company was also named one of the Inc 500 ( #5 in Education) in 2007.

Having, received a Bachelor’s degree in English and Secondary Education from Loyola University of Chicago. Kim has always followed the philosophy that businesses earn customer attention through demonstrating value and thought leadership in quality content creation that drives customer engagement.
