Vintage is big business—and high fashion. Dressing in pre-owned clothing is more popular than ever, as you can tell by the countless places, online and off, dealing in the past. But does your head spin as soon as you see those mixed-up racks of one-of-a-kind pieces? Do you not know where even to start? Are you afraid you’re getting ripped off ?

This class will help you have fun with vintage shopping. You’ll learn how to hone your eye so you can pick out the treasure from the trash. You’ll leave with a good sense for what to snap up, and what to avoid; what holds value, and what’s landfill; what you can alter (and how to do it), and what you can’t; resources for dating pieces; how to value, and how to haggle.  You’ll also learn ways to offload the loot when you’re done with it.

You’ll leave with a new enthusiasm for the sport of vintage hunting—as well as Kate’s personal address book of secret sources and must-hit meccas in NYC, Miami, London, Paris, and online.
