UPDATE: THIS CLASS IS CANCELED.
What makes a good photograph? How do you make an evocative image? How can one moment -- literally a fraction of a second -- say so much more than another? How can we use elements of photography -- light, composition, body language -- to create strong images? These are a few of the questions we'll explore in the class Telling Stories With Photographs. We will deconstruct different photos, as well as photo series as a whole, to help us answer these questions, and as a way to help guide your work. I will be providing links to photographers in the coming weeks to give us a place to start. I would also advise that you come to class with at least one photograph (either your own, or one that you find compelling) and be prepared to share it. It doesn't have to be a printed photo, though that would be great -- a URL or image file will work fine.
