Planting the Seed: How to Raise Your First Round

Planting the Seed: How to Raise Your First Round

Learn best practices and tactics for raising a seed round of financing for your startup.

About the Class

You've been working on a big idea and need financing to get it going. How do you go about raising a first round of funding?

In this class, learn how to find investors, how to pitch them, how to understand term sheets, and other tips for raising a seed financing round.

The class format will have a short lecture followed by Q&A from the audience.

Note: All proceeds will be donated to HackNY, a non-profit that “keeps the kids off the Street” (encourages college students to join/start tech startups instead of working on Wall Street).

Chris Dixon

Co-founder, Hunch & Founder Collective

New York, NY

I am the co-founder of Founder Collective, a seed-stage venture capital fund built by a collection of successful entrepreneurs. I have made personal early-stage investments in companies like Skype, Foursquare, and Kickstarter. I have also launched several companies of my own (most recently, Hunch), so I have experienced the seed round from both sides of the table. I blog about startups at cdixon.org.
Teacher Endorsements

“This was a really good class. Chris' experiences as both an entrepreneur and investor really came through in this class.”
