Are you a photographer, artist or designer looking to expand your digital toolbox? Or are you a casual photo snapper looking to "photoshop" in the missing relative in the family photo? I will help you get off to a great start with an easy to understand hands on introduction.  I have been working with Photoshop since it's introduction into the digital imaging world and want to share the best of what I know with you.

In this class we will look at, demystify and play with:

  • Examples of what you can create with Photoshop: Retouching, Digital Illustration, Photo Montage Web Design, Video Production [just to name a few]
  • Input options and Image Creation: Where do the first pixels in your image come from?
  • Learn how to navigate the toolbar, tabs and palettes
  • Navigate your image using panning and zooming
  • Selection Tools
  • Color Palette: Filling selected pixels with color
  • Using layers for easier access to creative control
  • Changing Opacity when combining image layers
  • Resolution: How to get the best quality output for different uses
  • File Formats: Saving your image forever and ever

If we have time we will discuss working with Text and RGB VS. CMYK color models.

Class Format
This interactive workshop will flow between my explanation and you trying it out for yourself. The best way to learn is for you to move that mouse around! The best questions come from actual hands on experience. Even though you won't want to stop, we will take a 5 minute break in the middle of class for stretching or a bathroom visit.

Software & Computer
Please beg, borrow or bring your own laptop [fully charged] with Photoshop C6 already installed. I will supply images for you to play with.  If you don't already own Photoshop, a free 30 day trial can be downloaded here.

You should:
Be ready to have fun!
