This class will cover PR basics that every startup should know, and will include some essential learnings about how to approach and talk to journalists. The topics that will be touched upon include understanding the media, launches, news announcements, interviews, and social media integration.

Chantal Yang, your instructor has over 15 years of public relations and marketing experience, and has worked with companies at all stages of growth. These include webMethods, JBoss, Revolution Analytics, Engine Yard, Makara (acquired by Red Hat), Couchbase, CloudBees, and most recently, Typesafe. Chantal's agency experience includes LEWIS Pulse (formerly Page One PR) and Schwartz Communications. She also ran communications for Red Hat’s Middleware division, and was previously a reporter for Knight Ridder newspapers.
