MySQL Essentials for the Web Developer

MySQL is the default choice of database for developers looking to build fast, scalable web application. Given the right design, hardware, and configuration, MySQL can scale up to hundreds of gigabytes of data without breaking a sweat. This class will walk through some of the basics of how you need to prepare, what you need to monitor, and what do to keep your application up and fast. Topics will include table design, indexes, EXPLAIN syntax, Percona, InnoDB vs MyISAM, basic tuning, Information Schema, and denormalization as a performance strategy.
