About this Class

Maybe your experience with miso begins and ends with soup from a sushi bar but did you know that miso can be used in all kinds of cooking, including desserts? This centuries old seasoning is not only delicious but healthy too! Join Philadelphia Permaculture Society in a hands-on class to learn about how miso is made and used. You'll leave the class with tips and recipes and maybe even the desire to make your own miso! This class is a mix of lecture, hands-on, and demos. A sample of foods will be served, so bring your appetite!

Megan’s Credentials

Dawn Reid and Megan Haupt are longtime whole foods cooks. Both practiced macrobiotics and have used miso extensively in their cooking. Dawn has made her own miso and brings her fermentation experience to this class. Megan brings her nerdy love of food history. They are members of Philadelphia Permaculture Society, a community group dedicated to teaching self-sufficiency skills in a practical, fun, and affordable way.
