Overview:
In the not-too-distant future even toasters will be able to shoot video, so it's important to be able to capture all of the footage you shoot throughout the course of a day and edit it down into interesting morsels that people will actually enjoy watching. This class aims to help you do just that.

Who Should Attend:
Anyone with an interest in breaking in to the video field regardless of whether you'd touched an editing program in the past. This class will touch on the very basic principals and concepts of editing and then show you how to carry them out with iMovie 11 (version 9.0) as our tool.

Topics Include:

  • Importing your footage from tape, memory stick, or digital camera
  • Capturing video with your computer's webcam
  • Overview of the interface
  • Common editing terminology
  • Methods of organizing clips
  • Editing clips including precision edits, splitting and cropping
  • Adding effects and titles
  • Adding background audio and sound effects
  • Sharing your creation with the world

What To Bring: Ideally you'll have a portable Mac with iMovie '11 installed (currently $20 via the Mac App Store), but you could easily follow along without it. Feel free to bring along a notebook and, most importantly, an eagerness to learn. I'll see what I can do about recording the class and providing all attendees with a copy afterwards!
