Whether you're an audiophile or just an avid listener, this workshop is perfect for anyone who wants to learn how to DJ but isn't sure where to begin. We'll walk through all of the basics needed to put together your own live set - from building your setup, to mixing your first songs and even creating samples and loops on the fly.
You'll need a few things in order to take full advantage of the class:
-a computer (Mac or PC)
-a trial copy of Ableton Live
-a few high-quality mp3's for your mix (it's best to keep it simple here - think anything with a driving, 4/4 beat - preferably electronic music)
-a pair of headphones
In addition to learning how to DJ, you'll also receive an introduction to Ableton Live - an incredibly powerful and intuitive music sequencer. By the time you leave, you'll have the tools necessary to feel confident spinning that Friday night gig or your own solo dance party.
Cassidy Pignatello is a sound designer with a passion for music technology and new media. After basically being born with an Atari joystick in his hand, his early interest in video games soon developed into a full-blown obsession with synthesizers, samplers and signal manipulation.
When he's not tinkering with sounds or watching Game of Thrones, Cassidy works as a Campaign Manager at LinkedIn - where he helps mid-size businesses get the most value out of their advertising dollars by ensuring they reach the target audiences that will drive their key performance metrics.
