What You’ll Learn

An intensive one-session workshop for those who would like to dive into the world of jewelry soldering. We will begin by reviewing the components of a jewelry soldering setup and torch safety. Next you’ll practice soldering, working your way from simple wire joints used in jump rings and chains to longer seams in sheet metal, such as those in wide ring bands. We’ll end the class with a wire-balling exercise, teaching you to make your own elegant silver earwires. The course fee includes all silver, brass, solder, and other materials used in this class.

Class is taught by Melissa J Tyson and Kerrie Yeung in their jewelry studio.

About Your Teacher
Kerrie Yeung · jewelry maker

Kerrie Yeung's knowledge in the fields of studio, fashion, and fine jewelry stems from her studies in the Jewelry and Metalsmithing department at the Rhode Island School of Design. Even though Kerrie is especially adept in the fine jewelry industry of production and management, this does not stop her from extending and developing her own craft in jewelry making. Kerrie also exhibits personal art work internationally. She dreams of traveling the world to find the most peculiar and remarkable natural beads. Kerrie enjoys quiet time and likes to find better ways of organizing. You’ll feel all of Kerrie’s enthusiasm through the individual attention and care she gives to your making curiosities at The Bloomfield School.
