This class is for those people who are interested in learning the basics of architecture and urban design. It is an introduction to basic theoretical and practical tools of spatial operation in different scales as well as architectural representation techniques. It will show the students broad, abstract form-making procedures and elements down to the specificity of the urban context. The class is structured in two sessions consisting of 2 hours each: The first one covers brief and diverse lectures (think tank) and the second is a workshop (do-tank). The aim is that at the end of the two session class, students will have a better understanding of basic elements of architecture and urban design, and will be equipped with a set of introductory tools to operate in space
The instructors recently graduated from the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP) at Columbia University. Claudia completed the Urban Design Program and Eduardo finished the Advanced Architectural Design Program. They both have teaching experience in both undergraduate and graduate schools in the US and Europe.
Claudia is architectural and urban designer professional from Venezuela. She has seven years of experiences in the field of architecture, urban planning and design. She has worked for the private and public sector in Florida in projects in Mexico and Central Florida. She loves to teach and she is passionate about cities, architecture, art and ecology.
Eduardo is a practicing architect from Spain, has worked in Spain, Denmark and the US, is a PhD candidate from the school of architecture of Madrid, has taught architectural design in Madrid and in the undergraduate and graduate programs at Columbia University. During the summer Eduardo taught as an Associate in the Introduction for Architecture program at GSAPP, Columbia University.
