What You’ll Learn

jQuery Mobile is fast becoming the de-facto library for creating mobile web apps that look and feel native, but work great on all popular smartphones and tablets. It's still in beta, though, so it helps to have someone guide you through the many gotchas and pitfalls.

We'll use jsFiddle to experiment with the core jQuery Mobile functionality through an example AJAX-infused social media app. Topics include:

  • Mobile design basics
  • Pages, toolbars, and dialogs
  • Lists (basic, inset, with images)
  • Forms, inputs, and buttons
  • Themes
  • New mobile events (touch, swipe, orientation changes)

This class is suitable for web developers and web designers - jQuery Mobile is ideal for rapidly creating design prototypes. Just bring your laptop (with Safari, Chrome, or Firefox installed) and a comfort with HTML and jQuery.
