We teach Ruby on Rails the way we use it every day at our web agency. By the end of the workshop, you will know how to do Test-Driven Development using Cucumber and RSpec. It is intended for developers with 1 to 2 years of experience in Ruby, Rails, and relational databases.
The typical student of this workshop leaves with knowledge of how to best write a Rails application with behavior-driven development, as well as the various tools available in the Ruby and JavaScript communities for writing good tests.
We’ll be using Cucumber and RSpec to cover behavior-driven development, mocking and stubbing, and how to test 3rd-party service interaction, as well as how to use testing to enforce SOLIDprinciples. We’ll also briefly cover Evergreen and Jasmine for writing unit tests for JavaScript.
After spending years writingASP and C#, Josh found solace in Ruby and realized that crying while programming was OK (as long as they were tears of joy). When he’s not programming, he enjoys biking and playing drums.
