Curious about letterpress printing but not sure where to start? Wondering if letterpress printing is up your alley? Get your feet wet in this series of introductory workshops. You will learn basic typesetting and press lock-up, ink mixing, and press mechanics. Learn to set type using the Center's collection of metal and wood fonts and graphic plates. Design your own stationery and/or greeting cards and print a stack on our Vandercook Proof presses. Materials will be provided.
Letterpress students should come to class wearing something they wouldn't mind getting inky. You should also bring a pair of rubber dishwashing gloves.Classes in the printshop use citrus-based solvents. The Center's classes are not suitable for pregnant women or those with a sensitivity to solvents.
Taught at the Center for Book Arts over a weekend, Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 4pm both days.
