When you think about food photography, it's not just about what's on the plate; it's about the details, the scenes, the people, the culture, and the moments. In this introductory class, you will discover that with a minimum amount of equipment, some basic composition and exposure rules, and creativity, you too can shoot food images just like those you see in books & magazines. Whether you're looking to start a food blog or just want to share your food adventures with your friends & family, this course will help develop the basic concepts & techniques for hunger-inducing food photography.
The class will be held at Saturday's CUESA Ferry Building Farmer's Market, at the CUESA Classroom (outside under the white tents in front of the Ferry Building, to the left of the main entrance)
Executive Chef Steven Connolly of the Blue Mermaid Restaurant in San Francisco & CUESA Market Chef Elianna Friedman will be preparing fresh dishes for us to shoot.
For the 1st 45 minutes, I will be teaching the basics of food photography (as outlined below), & the class will practice shooting a variety of dishes prepared by our special guests.
For the latter 45 minutes, I will lead the class around the famous Ferry Building Farmer's Market, where the class will put their skills to test by shooting a variety of market foods & scenery.
