Have you ever wondered how Google results show up in your web browser, even though Google servers are hundreds of miles away? Or who regulates domain names, routes Internet traffic, and sets the technology standards?

This 1.5-hour lecture will provide an introduction to how the Internet works, down to the nitty-gritty of BGP, HTTP, JavaScript, XSS, and other Internet acronyms. We will talk about Internet history, protocols, network architecture, applications, security, and future challenges to the Internet itself. Prerequisites: interest in how the Internet works. No other prior knowledge required.
