What You’ll Learn

Executive Summary is part one of the two-part class I need Funding: Tell me how to get "Investor Ready". Part two addresses the equally important topic of Investor Pitch.

Executive Summary is one of your most important communication tools with potential investors. It is the first document potential investors read about your business; so it is critically important to make the right first impression, stand out to sell your investment opportunity and get invited to a face-to-face meeting.

  • Do you wonder how you can summarize pages of business plan into ONE page Executive Summary?
  • Do you want to know how to communicate your business plan/idea to potential investors in a concise yet attention-grabbing way?
  • Do you wish you know what questions to answer for potential investors in your Executive Summary to assure them your business is investment worthy?

If you are ...

  • An entrepreneur or a small business owner looking to raise funds from Angels or VCs
  • A startup founder applying to an incubator/accelerator program or a Business Plan competition

Then you need to sign up for this class in order to learn how to effectively communicate with your busy target audience and to save your Executive Summary from being "routed" to the trash bin.

During the class we will:

  • Identify what investors are looking for when reading an Executive Summary.
  • Grasp the importance of a business attention-grabbing Mantra.
  • Learn about the effective structure and format of the one page Executive Summary.
  • Define the critical sections to include in an Executive Summary.
  • View examples of what language is more compelling to use to convey your message.
  • .... And FINALLY Summarize top 10 mistakes entrepreneurs do when writing an Executive Summary

I personally consider creating the Executive Summary one of the most challenging yet rewarding exercises an entrepreneur goes through. Usually, what starts with my clients as a “One Page writing exercise”, quickly turns into a deep analysis of the whole business. Do not undervalue the power of writing a well-thought Executive Summary. It is your chance to make a first impression, and you only get one.
