Drawing upon Steve Blank's new book, The Startup Owner's Manual, this class will arm you with the basic knowledge and resources to launch that startup you're always thinking about.

We'll touch on the following topics in this introductory session:

  • What Makes an Entrepreneur's Mindset Unique
  • How a Startup is Different from a Large Company
  • The Customer Development Manifesto - 14 Rules to Live By
  • 4 Crucial Steps to Creating a Product Your Customers Want
  • 9 Business Model Assumptions to Validate Before Building Your Company

This class is designed as a workshop and requires active participation from each student. You'll spend the bulk of the time applying these ideas to your specific business idea and interacting with other students.

It's geared toward first-time founders, especially college students, recent graduates, and working professionals who would like to transition to working on their own startup full-time.

You'll leave this class having already launched your startup, with a roadmap of where to go next.

Afterward I'll offer a discount code to students interested in a 5-week summer program in which we'll convene once a week to share the lessons learned from ongoing Customer Development efforts. It's a condensed version of the Lean Launchpad curriculum that Steve Blank teaches at Stanford, Berkeley, and Columbia.

Prerequisites
You need to come to class with a specific business idea that you'd like to start. No prior knowledge of Lean Startup principles is required.
