Have an idea for a small project? Come to our Design/Build Studio and fabricate a small project. You must take our Design Build * Workshop 101 Class to dicuss your project and get an introductory and safety class in our woodshop. Come with ideas! Learn to find refurbished and recycled woods, fix broken pieces of furniture. We are design/build and we like to make things! Suggested projects are anything from a coffee table, your own speaker, small planter box, solar powered fans, LED light or anything you can imagine!

During our prerequisite Design Build * Workshop class we will coordinate with you regarding the design and materials neccessary to fabricate your project. All materials must be provided by the student but we will help you find the most creative ways to reuse old materials, find refurbished woods and get the most bang for your buck.
Tools and space provided. Students must bring or purchase materials for small project but we can help then coordinate and plan all of that. Materials may vary depending on student and we can encourage using refurbished or reclaimed materials to keep cost down! We also have various scrap woods in our shop people can use. part of the Workshop 101 intro is explaining how to find good inexpensive and reused materials.
Must participate in our Design-Build Workshop 101 class. Basic knowledge and experience with hand-tools is encouraged (hand drills, screw drivers, measuring tape, sandpaper, etc).
Jon Schramm and Huy Bui run a design build studio *HB* Collaborative out of Brooklyn. Trained as architects, we work on variety of projects from small interior spaces, custom furniture and lighting and architectural design. We are hands-on in our apporach, making scaled models, to connection details, to full scale mock-ups or our designs.
Jon Schramm is a designer, artist and educator working in NYC. He is a faculty member at Parsons School of Constructed Environments. His illustration work – points and lines has exhibited throughout the city. He received his master in architecture from Parsons School of Design.
Huy Bui is an entrepreneur, designer and artist working in NYC. He is the co-founder of An Choi Vietnamese Eatery in the Lower East Side and is dedicated to the community of New York City. He received his Masters in Architecture from Parsons School of Design and Bachelors of Science in Finance from George Mason University.
