What You’ll Learn

Whether you're a co-founder hoping to convince investors to give you funds to take your business to the next level, an employee/operator who needs actionable data (and quickly!), or a finance buff who's looking to translate financial analytical chops to the startup world, this course is for you.

Read about how my student Kareem Mayan used his learnings from my classes to reduce his business' cancellation rates by 87.5% (and congrats to Kareem on making #1 in Hacker News with this post!).

By the end of this course, you'll:

  1. be able to showcase (and comfortably talk about!) user metrics and revenue trends in a way that will resonate with those who matter (e.g. your CEO, investors) and
  2. have a launchpad for plugging the holes in your business and taking your company to the next ($$) level.

This workshop is very hands-on and project-based, so you'll leave with tangible proof of the skills you've learned (which should hopefully make it easier for some of you to convince your bosses to foot the bill for this experience!). Throughout this course, you'll work through your own data (or partner up with someone else if you don't have your own) to yield the following:

  • identification of what metrics matter most for the success of your company
  • an actual analysis that underpins the levers behind the trends you're seeing
  • potential solutions to fix the problems you discover

Over the course of our five weeks together, you'll determine your key performance indicators, learn how to manage expectations internally to source the info you need from your company, develop best practices for structuring and scoring your raw data in a way that's conducive to cohort analysis (yes, you'll build pivot tables and graphs!), discuss insights and findings, and finally build reports and recommendations for your companies.
