What You’ll Learn

If you want to make food like all those chefs in those fancy gastro restaurants, then set up shop in your tiny studio kitchen and outsmart the commercial $2K sous vide for a scrappy, dangerous looking, deliciously-tender-and-perfect-steak-producing one you'll build yourself. In this class, you'll learn how to seal your food in vacuum bags, create a temperature controlled water bath to cook the food in, and ultimately whip up an out-of-this-world meal of perfectly cooked edge-to-edge medium rare, steak with about $150 worth of parts.

Class will be held in a small, hands-on format, where each student will walk away with a fully functional DIY sous vide unit. The cost of the materials (~$150) is included in the class price. At the end of the class, everyone will also get to sample a variety of steaks cooked sous vide.

For those interested in learning more about sous vide and the world of DIY sous vide, I also offer anĀ introduction to sous vide.

Intermediate Level

This class focuses on the construction of a sous vide temperature controller water bath. While a short introduction to sous vide will be given at the beginning, students interested in learning more about the pure cooking side are encouraged to enroll in my introductory class.
