I often hear people talking about Twitter as a necessary evil. They've heard it's great for telling people about their product and hearing customer feedback but they just don't get why on earth people actually enjoy using this service.

  • "I think I have an account but I haven't done anything with it."
  • "I hate having to figure out how to fit into 140 characters."
  • "It's just one more social network for me to update."

This is your class if you want to learn about using Twitter to connect with people who share your passions, as well as fill your timeline with conversation and links that inspire and inform. You want to build a community that allows you to network, talk and learn from people close to home and all over the world.

What to bring:
Come to class with a wifi-enabled laptop, tablet or phone with a Twitter client or web-browser pre-installed. Please have a Twitter account that has a photo and description already started.

In the class:
I'll show some of the basics and then we'll dive right in to try out some of the skills. We'll look together at profiles and interests to provide feedback and generate ideas for each person in the class.

  • Learn the basics of how Twitter works so you can feel more comfortable using it
  • Find people to listen to and learn from who have a "voice" and way of using Twitter that you love
  • Come up with some good "fit the elephant into 140 characters" strategies
  • Move beyond #hashtaggery and @name dropping to find your own unique voice and content
  • Create a great profile that will help people understand your interests and your "voice" immediately
  • Learn how to interact with other people on Twitter in respectful, kind ways

You'll leave this class with a great set of tools for making the most of Twitter - connecting and sharing with fabulous people near and far and building a community that will serve you well in your business or personal life.
