Build a simple photo-sharing app

From the Creator of the #1 Bestselling Skillshare Course Teach Yourself to Code: One Month Rails

Are you tired of looking for that technical co-founder? What if you could build your own Rails application in less than a month?

Last August I gave myself the mission of learning how to code in less than a month. I devoured all of the guides and pulled out only the things I actually needed to know to build my application.

Within a few months I was winning hackathons on my own.

How did I do it?

Ruby on Rails can be used to build nearly any kind of application. It's extremely powerful, and there are techniques for quickly building applications that few developers or guides will tell you about.

I'm not going to teach you the fundamentals.

I'm going to give you the secrets and shortcuts: consider it your quick & dirty guide to Ruby on Rails.

In this online course, we will be building a basic photo-sharing application (similar to Pinterest):

(Yeah I know this is ridiculous. I'll update the image soon.)

Sign up for this course and you'll learn:

  • How to use a skeleton application to jumpstart your app development
  • How to generate scaffolds to quickly and easily add functionality to your apps
  • What gems and plugins exist to extend the power of your app in a heartbeat
  • This course also covers some advanced topics like jQuery, and much more

This course includes:

  • Easy to follow pre-recorded video lectures
  • Live weekly office-hours
  • Access to code samples
  • Additional resources

This class is project-based:

You’ll finish the class with a live photo-sharing app. From there you can customize and take your app in any direction, from microblogging to eCommerce. The only requirement for the final project will be that you post a link to your working app for others to see and interact with.

Who this class is for:

This class is designed for beginners.

This material in this course will continue off of the material covered in Teach Yourself to Code: One Month Rails. If you haven’t taken that class, you will be able to jump in but you may have to review some of the concepts that were previously covered.

I've taught hundreds of students (see testimonials below), many of whom have gone on to become developers and build their own products.

I also personally respond to any questions my students have, so there's no worry about getting stuck or not knowing what to do. So sign up now!

Award

At the end of the class, I will announce the three best web applications as winners. In addition, a verifiable certificate of completion will be presented to all students who successfully complete the project as part of this course.

Talk soon,
Mattan Griffel

P.S. The $20 price is meant to be an introductory offer to build the students and positive reviews. The price will be doubling once we hit a certain number of students. So if you want to make sure you get in at this special price, sign up now. You won't regret it (but if you wait, you might).

Reviews from past students that have taken this class on other platforms:

“Mattan's tutorial and style of teaching is really relaxed and to the point. A lot of rails tutorials out there either show you too much or too little. His tutorial was the right mix - focusing on getting stuff up and running really quick.” - Manuel Da Costa

“Having taken a few introductory classes in web languages, I was able to follow and complete the project even though I don't have a programming background. The step by step instructions, the at-your-own pace, the live Q&As and the community spirit made it result in success and a feeling of accomplishment/empowerment. Mattan really wanted us to get it. OMR felt more personal and fun than classes I've taken in the physical world.” - Lori Ortiz

“Mattan is a great teacher. I enjoyed the flexible structure of the class and the possibility for live interaction if needed. The course delivers what it promises - a good entry point and overview for wannabe rails'ers and gives appetite for more. Thanks!” Fabian Binz-Scharf

“Good clear instruction. There are materials floating around online, but Mattan has put them together in an order that makes sense.” – Jonathan Grover

"This was the best introduction I could have had to a web app development." - Sam Asante

“This class was simply amazing. I learned a lot and I know how to code now! I'm excited to put in the work to master the new skills I've learned. Thank you.” – Montalis Anglade

“It is true, I learnt to build a website from ground up and have it live in less than... 2 days (after watching all the videos)! Mattan is unique in the sense that he came from a non-programming background, and that's how he grasp our true beginner's learning curve. It helps a lot.“  Yu Sun
