Specialty, or craft beers represent the fastest growing beer market in the United States. Massachusetts is no exception, home to some of the country’s best craft breweries, big and small. In this beer tasting session, we will learn to appreciate the art of beer crafting through five hand-selected styles from local breweries.
You will learn how the beer is made, how to properly serve it, how to distinguish different styles, and how to appreciate its different components. We’ll talk about everything from aroma and body to texture and finish. Impress your friends with your newfound knowledge and have fun finding a beer style you'll want to take home.
My fascination with beer started when I learned that my family created the Australian brewery Coopers. I grew up listening to stories of secret beer formulas and grandmaster brewers. Eventually, I started brewing my own beer and became evermore fascinated.
As an undergraduate at Harvard I helped manage of our English-style pub, the Cambridge Queen's Head, where I was exposed to many Boston breweries. While at school I also created an independent study in which I created four batches of beer in a controlled experiment and analyzed the effect of different yeast strains on beer taste.
I love to travel and whenever I do, I make sure to taste the local brews to help me better understand where I am.
