This class reviews the concepts of product design in the context of modern, lean manufacturing that leverages powerful new design tools, creates iterative prototypes through additive manufacturing (3D printing), and sources production using the most appropriate processes and materials for the application. It covers some of the issues that must be considered in research and anaylsis during the early stages of an ideas development, and will help you find the right tools and partners to make a product idea into a reality. While you will not be producing the next iPhone-killer by yourself, this course will give you a flexible core set of skills that can be applied to any product idea you might wish to consider, so that you can make an enlightened decision about how to proceed before approaching anyone with a proposal.
