This is the class to explore your dream of living in another country - specifically, the Land Down Under! Australia consistently ranks as the top country in the world for quality of life and standard of living. It was the only developed nation not to go into recession and continues to boom and prosper during these difficult times. Learn what it takes to move to the 'Lucky Country', get the visa you need to work there and get yourself on the path to Australian citizenship if you so desire.
We'll discuss different options for visas to enter the country (and the advantages and disadvantages of each), the requirements for "General Skilled Migration", the "Points Test" and how to go about getting settled once you've arrived, including both temporary and permanent housing, how to look for work and the road to permanent residency (the first step before gaining citizenship).
Time allowing, we can also discuss the attributes of Australia's major cities - Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Darwin and Brisbane (I have been to all of them - some of them for extended periods - except Hobart in Tasmania). They each have their unique qualities and depending on your interests, the choice of where you should settle may become quite clear during our discussion.
To prepare for class, The Australian Government's Department of Immigration and Citizenship has a short video on YouTube called "Coming to Australia" which will give you a brief overview of the visa process:

You can also find the latest news from the Australian Government about "General Skilled Migration" here:

Come ready with questions and we'll have fun exploring the answers. This class is all about making your dream of living in Australia a reality!
